“When the coach came, we had a completely different philosophy at the club,” said Bijlow. “Playing football from behind was not our thing. The professionalism, and everything surrounding it, has improved a lot. [Slot has] played a large part in that.

“It’s a shame for our club [if Slot leaves]. But just like with a player, you also give him a nice step because he has done so well.”

Slot has garnered significant acclaim from Dutch media recently, with former Liverpool star Dirk Kuyt offering high praise as well.

His tenure at both Feyenoord and previous club AZ Alkmaar has been lauded for surpassing expectations. Notably, he has implemented an appealing, attacking brand of football in his brief managerial journey.
