Report: Liverpool are Planning Fresh Contract Talks with Three Key Stars Under New Manager and Sporting Director

Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all considering extending their contracts at Liverpool.

Their current deals expire in 2025, and they are inclined to extend their stay at Anfield if the club demonstrates sufficient ambition in their plans post-Jurgen Klopp.

According to Football Insider, discussions are likely to commence once a new manager and sporting director are in place.

According to the report, the club is “confident” in retaining these key players, who have played integral roles in their recent success.

Jurgen Klopp made the surprising announcement last month that he would be departing Liverpool at the conclusion of the season, marking the end of his nine-year tenure with the club. Alongside Klopp, his entire backroom staff is also slated to leave.

In addition to Klopp’s departure, the club confirmed that sporting director Jorg Schmadtke would be departing at the end of the January transfer window. Schmadtke had joined Liverpool in May 2023 after leaving his position at German side Wolfsburg.

According to the Football Insider’s report, Liverpool are preparing to offer Alexander-Arnold a substantial long-term contract, which is said to be the most significant among three key players.

Fresh optimism is also circulating within the club regarding Salah’s potential commitment to new terms. Salah seems unpressured to move to Saudi Arabia despite ongoing speculation and could opt to extend his tenure at Merseyside.

Liverpool maintained their position at the summit of the Premier League standings following a 3-1 victory over Burnley on Saturday afternoon, February 10th.

Their upcoming fixture sees them face Brentford away in the early kick-off on Saturday, February 17th.
