Liverpool Recently Reached Out to Representatives of Serie A Star – Fabrizio Romano

Liverpool recently initiated contact with the representatives of Atalanta midfielder Ederson, but discussions regarding a potential transfer have not progressed since, according to Fabrizio Romano.

In his latest Daily Briefing column for CaughtOffside, Romano clarified that Ederson is not currently in negotiations for a move.

Furthermore, Liverpool have not submitted any bids for the Brazilian, indicating that there has been no advancement beyond the initial contact.

While there may be some interest from Liverpool, Romano’s latest update suggests that it is not particularly concrete at this stage.

A significant detail could lie with Atalanta, as the Serie A club is reluctant to allow the 24-year-old to depart in the same transfer window as another key midfielder, Teun Koopmeiners.

This situation poses a potential problem for Liverpool, since Koopmeiners is a highly sought-after player who is likely to attract attention.

If the Dutchman is acquired soon, it could impede Liverpool’s chances of pursuing their initial interest in Ederson.

Romano: Liverpool Recently Contacted the Player’s Reps

“Ederson – The Atalanta midfielder has responded to the links with Liverpool, but what’s the situation?

“Liverpool made contact with his agents weeks ago but never started any negotiation, they didn’t send a bid so far, there are no talks ongoing at this stage,” Romano said.

“We have to see if they will include Ederson in their shortlist or not, it’s really early for this and there are no meaningful changes to the situation so far. Atalanta, meanwhile, don’t want to lose both Ederson and Koopmeiners.”

It’s uncertain if Ederson is the type of player Liverpool will focus on this summer. The Merseyside club underwent significant midfield restructuring last year by acquiring four new players in that area: Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch.
