Jurgen Klopp Shares His Favourite Moments at Liverpool – Including the Best Performance, Goal and Save

Jurgen Klopp has reflected on the key highlights of his time at Liverpool as he prepares to leave the club.

Klopp will be in the Anfield dugout for the last time on Sunday when Liverpool face Wolves.

Throughout his tenure as Liverpool’s manager, Klopp has secured victories in the Premier League, the Champions League, the FA Cup, and two League Cups.

Since taking charge in October 2015, Klopp has overseen numerous memorable moments for Liverpool.

Before his final match, Klopp was asked to recall the moments that stand out the most to him.

Klopp remarked that Liverpool’s 1-1 draw against Manchester City at home in March was their best performance under his management.

Manchester City went ahead in the first half with a goal from John Stones. However, Liverpool equalised in the second half with a penalty from Alexis Mac Allister and posed significant challenges to Pep Guardiola’s team.

Late in the match, Liverpool had a penalty appeal dismissed when Jeremy Doku was not penalized for a challenge on Mac Allister.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference ahead of the Wolves game, Klopp said: “I’d say the best football we ever played was against Man City this season, that day we played the best we had. We had won before and played well but controlling a game v City we never did before. That’s my favourite 60 minutes.”

Jurgen Klopp identified Liverpool’s most outstanding performance under his management as the astonishing comeback against Barcelona in 2019.

During this Champions League semi-final, Liverpool was down 3-0 from the first leg but managed a 4-0 victory in the second leg.

In that match, Divock Origi and Georginio Wijnaldum each scored twice, propelling Liverpool into the final.

Klopp praised Trent Alexander-Arnold’s quick-thinking corner that set up Origi’s goal in that game, calling it the best assist he has witnessed during his time with the club.

Among the many goals scored under Klopp’s leadership, he highlighted a unique moment when goalkeeper Alisson netted the winning goal with a header against West Bromwich Albion in 2021.

Klopp also recognized Alisson’s crucial save against Napoli in the 2018 Champions League, where the goalkeeper stopped Arkadiusz Milik’s shot.

Additionally, Klopp reflected on the best backheel goal scored during his tenure, choosing Sadio Mane’s exquisite effort in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over Watford in 2019.
