Liverpool have shown strong interest in acquiring Bayer Leverkusen winger Jeremie Frimpong this summer, as reported by Sport Bild.
Frimpong, 23, had an outstanding season with the Bundesliga champions, scoring 14 goals and providing 12 assists in various competitions. Primarily a right midfielder, he is also capable of playing as a traditional right-back.
Known for his exceptional speed, the Netherlands international has a £33.8m release clause in his contract, making him a target for several clubs.
Liverpool are considered a likely destination for Frimpong, who previously played for Celtic.
Liverpool are in a tough battle to secure Frimpong’s signature, as Bayern Munich and Manchester United are also vying for him.
Having come through the Manchester City academy, Frimpong might be swayed to return to Manchester, but Liverpool hold the edge with Champions League football in sight.
