CEO Names Price for Liverpool ‘Target’ After Rejecting £34 Million Offer

Liverpool, Arsenal, and Chelsea have all shown interest in Georgiy Sudakov.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s chief executive, Serhiy Palkin, has emphasised that they will not let Georgiy Sudakov go for a low price this summer.

Sudakov had an impressive 2023-24 season, netting 10 goals and providing six assists in 34 matches, helping Shakhtar secure both the Ukrainian league and cup titles.

The midfielder is set to represent Ukraine at the European Championships in Germany, where he is anticipated to play a key role. According to the Daily Mail, he has already drawn interest from several clubs, including Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, and Chelsea.

Palkin is confident that a strong performance at the Euros will heighten clubs’ interest in Sadakov. Napoli had previously made an offer for him, but it was rejected.

Speaking to the Telegraph, Palkin said: “If he plays well at the Euros, definitely he will move. But even without the Euros, a lot of clubs will want him. If you look at the position he plays, in the world there are maybe five players of his level.

“The last offer we had for Sudakov was €40 million (£33.84 million) plus bonuses from Napoli, but we refused it.

“We will definitely not sell him for less than €50 million (£42.3 million). For me, it is difficult to tell who will come next, but definitely they will come.”

Liverpool are reportedly in the market for a midfielder in the summer transfer window, though perhaps not someone like Sudakov.

Last summer, they acquired Alexis Mac Allister, Dominik Szoboszlai, and Ryan Gravenberch for a combined £149 million, all of whom can play in the No.8 role.

However, the Reds are short on defensive midfield options. Wataru Endo was signed from Stuttgart for £16.3 million, but he is the only senior player available to screen the defense.

At 31, Endo isn’t a long-term solution, which Liverpool is seeking. Although they have Stefan Bajcetic, the 19-year-old missed most of the 2023-24 season due to injury.

One player linked to a move to Anfield is Atalanta’s Ederson.
