Fabrizio Romano Delivers Transfer Update on Liverpool Star.. and It’s Not Good News

Real Madrid’s admiration for Trent Alexander-Arnold is widely known, with several reports in the past year indicating the Spanish champions’ interest in the England international as a potential long-term replacement for Dani Carvajal.

At 32 years old, Carvajal’s tenure at Real Madrid is advancing, and his contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025. Interestingly, this coincides with the conclusion of Alexander-Arnold’s contract with Liverpool.

The defender, who has won both the Champions League and Premier League titles, is nearing the end of his current contract. This lack of renewal talks has caused concern among Liverpool fans.

This situation poses a challenge for Richard Hughes, the incoming sporting director, and Michael Edwards, the CEO of Football at FSG, as they plan for the post-Jurgen Klopp era.

Should no agreement be reached soon, Liverpool may be forced to contemplate selling the 25-year-old during the upcoming transfer window to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.

Fabrizio Romano, the transfer guru, has indicated that the decision-makers at Santiago Bernabeu are eyeing Alexander-Arnold.

Los Blancos have had success with free agents lately, convincing David Alaba and Antonio Rudiger to join after their contracts expired with Bayern Munich and Chelsea, respectively.

This summer, they seem poised to secure the biggest free agent, France captain Kylian Mbappe. According to Romano, the Trent Alexander-Arnold situation is worth monitoring in the coming months, as Real Madrid plan to secure him when his Liverpool contract ends.

Alexander-Arnold, close to England colleague Jude Bellingham, now a LaLiga title holder with Real, recently shared his dream party guest list, which includes Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

“Another player they love but I think it could be more next summer in case he doesn’t extend the contract is Trent Alexander Arnold,” the Italian journalist tells Mics.

“He is a player they love, he is a player they’re following so I think it’s another target they have.”
