Agent Already Suggested Why 36-goal Striker Move to Liverpool Could Be a Possiblity This Summer

There are reports indicating that Rúben Amorim might bring Viktor Gyökeres to Liverpool with him. The Swedish striker’s agent has hinted at why this could happen.

Ruben Amorim remains the leading contender to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. His potential arrival at Anfield this summer, however, remains uncertain.

Despite recent reports implying an agreement with the Reds, the 39-year-old has denied any such arrangement. Nonetheless, he has not ruled out departing Sporting CP this summer, although indications suggest he might opt to stay.

Should Liverpool secure Amorim, speculation arises that he may bring one of his standout players from Lisbon. This scenario diverges from the norm for the Reds, as Klopp has not brought in any of his former players during his tenure at Anfield. Yet, one player is currently attracting significant attention.

Viktor Gyökeres has emerged as a sensation in Portuguese football during this campaign. Joining Sporting from Coventry City last summer, the Swedish forward has been a prolific force, tallying an impressive 36 goals and 16 assists in 44 matches across various competitions.

Recent reports hint at a potential move for Gyökeres to Anfield alongside Ruben Amorim. Report from HITC suggest that Amorim, if appointed as Liverpool’s new manager, desires to bring Gyökeres along with him to the club.

Gyökeres appears open to the idea, as suggested by his agent’s recent remarks regarding the player’s future. Should Amorim depart, it’s conceivable that the 25-year-old striker could follow suit, enticed by the prospect of reuniting with his manager at a new club.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Rúben is being linked to Liverpool, it’s normal, his work is of a high level, it’s what the clubs are looking for,” Gyökeres’ representative Hasan Cetinkaya told A Bola.

“Yes, it will be more difficult for Viktor to stay if Rúben Amorim leaves Sporting because Viktor came precisely because of Rúben.

“The day we met, I said to Rúben: ‘Here’s my boy, he came to Sporting because of you’.”

Cetinkaya added: “There were eight clubs very interested in Viktor last summer. They all paid Coventry more than Sporting, they all paid Viktor more, they all paid a higher commission to the agent.

“And I brought him to Sporting because of Rúben Amorim, because I know his work and his work with the players. I chose Rúben because he is a coach at another level.”

It’s definitely a promising indication if major players express interest in playing for Amorim. There’s speculation that if Liverpool successfully secure Amorim, Gyökeres might be interested in joining him at Anfield.

The decision for Liverpool to pursue Gyökeres remains uncertain. It may not be appropriate to overlook Darwin Núñez at this juncture, and acquiring the Swedish player won’t be inexpensive.

However, if Amorim does join Liverpool, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see some of his standout Sporting players follow suit.
