Jurgen Klopp’s Agent Addresses Bayern Munich Links as Thomas Tuchel Set to Leave

Jurgen Klopp’s agent has addressed the managerial links with Bayern Munich after the club announced that Thomas Tuchel will depart the Bundesliga side at the end of the season.

Jurgen Klopp’s agent has dismissed any speculation of the Liverpool manager assuming the reins from Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich at the end of the season.

Tuchel, the former Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain, and Borussia Dortmund manager, saw his departure from the club confirmed on Wednesday morning following a series of three consecutive defeats that derailed both domestic and European ambitions.

Having taken charge in Bavaria just 11 months ago following Julian Nagelsmann’s mid-season dismissal, Tuchel had a contract until 2025, with an option for an additional year.

With Tuchel’s imminent exit, another prominent managerial position becomes available for the summer, sparking rumours linking Klopp to Bayern’s plans for the future.

Despite this, Xabi Alonso stands as Bayern’s primary target, adding a layer of complexity to Liverpool’s potential involvement in the managerial shuffle.

Being German, Klopp’s ties to the Bundesliga giants are expected, yet agent Marc Kosicke swiftly dismissed any speculation of a takeover upon departing Anfield. “Jurgen Klopp will not coach any club or national team for a year after this current season,” he told Sky Germany. “That remains unchanged.”

There have been reports linking Klopp to the German national team position after Euro 2024, with speculation about him potentially leading the team for the 2026 World Cup.

Only last year, Kosicke addressed speculation of Klopp’s intentions for that job. “Jurgen has a long-term contract with Liverpool and is not available for the national coaching position,” he said. Klopp has previously said that it would be a “great honour” to manage his country.

His recently confirmed position before the end of the season adds an element of uncertainty for the future. Klopp mentioned in his announcement last month his intention to take a break from the game after nearly 20 consecutive years in management.
