Report: Manager with 84 Career Wins is Keen to Be Liverpool’s Next Manager

According to a report, it has been revealed that Xabi Alonso holds a strong desire to step into the shoes of Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool Football Club.

The Reds, in response to this potential interest, are said to be making preparations to extend an offer of a contract to Alonso.

Well, it appears that Liverpool have identified the Spaniard as their top candidate to succeed the departing German manager this upcoming summer.

Newsnow Liverpool had reported that the Reds had initiated contact with Alonso following the announcement of the 56-year-old’s departure at the season’s end.

In a latest report by Foot Mercato, it is now revealed that Alonso himself is keen to take over from Klopp at Anfield, with Liverpool prepared to extend an offer.

Alonso is reportedly also drawing interest from Bayern Munich amid uncertainty surrounding Thomas Tuchel’s future at the Allianz Arena. However, Liverpool are said to be the preferred destination for the Bayer Leverkusen manager.

This preference isn’t surprising considering Alonso’s involvement in persuading Thiago to join Liverpool from Bayern Munich back in 2020.

Alonso’s tenure in the Bundesliga this season has been remarkable, overseeing 17 wins and four draws from 21 outings. This success has propelled Bayer Leverkusen to a five-point lead at the top of the table.

Throughout his managerial career, which spans 166 games, the 42-year-old has achieved a total of 84 victories.
