Report suggest that Kylian Mbappe has decided to join Real Madrid next season, choosing the Spanish club over a move to the Premier League.
Mbappe’s contract situation with Paris Saint-Germain has thrust him into the spotlight once again. With only six months left on his PSG contract, he is permitted to engage in discussions with clubs outside of France for a free transfer at season’s end.
Real Madrid’s interest in Mbappe is not new. The Spanish powerhouse were close to securing his signature in the summer of 2022. However, Mbappe opted to extend his contract with PSG at that time.
Recent information from French outlet Foot Mercato suggests a different outcome this time. It appears that Mbappe and Real Madrid have reached a mutual agreement in the past few days.
Sources indicate that Mbappe has accepted Real Madrid’s terms and will move to the club on a free transfer when his current contract concludes. Notably, it’s been reported that the striker is willing to forgo a loyalty bonus of £69 million to facilitate a smoother departure from PSG.
However, amidst these developments, some conflicting reports have surfaced. Mbappe himself has indicated uncertainty about his future. Following PSG’s Trophee des Champions victory, he mentioned that he has yet to finalise his decision regarding his next move: “I haven’t made my decision, I haven’t made a choice.
“But with the agreement I made with the president this summer, whatever my decision, we managed to protect all parties and preserve the serenity of the club for the challenges to come, which remains the most important. If I know what I’m going to do, it won’t take long.”
Claims suggest that the 25-year-old remains interested in joining the Premier League. According to The Times, he is evaluating various options, including the possibility of moving to England without a transfer fee, especially after feeling “unimpressed” by Real Madrid’s pressure tactics.
Reports indicate that Mbappe has informed close associates that Real Madrid will not dictate his decision about his future.
Liverpool emerge as a potential destination, with Jurgen Klopp publicly expressing admiration for the 2018 World Cup winner’s skills. Furthermore, Mbappe has acknowledged previous discussions with Liverpool.
However, current indications make a transfer to Liverpool seem unlikely due to emerging reports of a pending agreement with Real Madrid. If the move materializes, Mbappe would join Real Madrid during one of the most prolific phases of his career.
Mbappe’s stellar performance this season includes 25 goals in 24 matches for PSG across all competitions. Additionally, he contributed three goals and four assists for France in their recent international matches.
