What’s the Latest Liverpool Transfer News?
Florian Wirtz Transfer News
Liverpool’s plan to secure the services of Bayer Leverkusen sensation Florian Wirtz this year have encountered a significant setback.
The talented attacking midfielder, highly regarded in football circles, is purportedly opting to extend his tenure at the BayArena until at least 2025, as disclosed by his father.
Despite earlier indications pointing towards Bayer Leverkusen being open to parting ways with the 20-year-old at the conclusion of this season, Liverpool, deemed frontrunners for his acquisition as a potential replacement for Roberto Firmino, now face disappointment.
What Has Florian Wirtz Father Said About His Transfer Plan?
Hans-Joachim, Wirtz’s father, recently extinguished any lingering hopes of the transfer materialising, unequivocally stating to Sky Sports Germany: “Currently, everything is geared towards Florian continuing to play in Leverkusen next season.“
Adding more to the already disappointing situation, the report asserts that Wirtz expresses a stronger interest in joining Bayern Munich.
The renowned Bavarian team has reportedly admired the 20-year-old talent for an extended period, recognising his standout performances in the Bundesliga throughout the current season.
Despite this, Wirtz seems committed to staying with Leverkusen until, at the very least, the conclusion of the ongoing season. It’s worth noting that while he hasn’t completely dismissed the possibility, his commitment to his current club remains evident.
“We have played a good season until now with Bayer Leverkusen, it is fun to play in this team. That is the reason I am only thinking about Leverkusen,” he said at the start of the 2023/2024 campaign.
Should Wirtz successfully secure a transfer to Bayern, a key consideration arises regarding his potential position. Jamal Musiala, currently occupying Wirtz’s natural position, remains indispensable, and Thomas Muller stands as a viable alternative for the No 10 role.
Despite speculation surrounding Muller’s departure from the Allianz Arena in the upcoming summer due to his contract nearing expiration, Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer expresses confidence in the stalwart’s commitment to the club, anticipating a re-signing.
Speaking to Bild-TV, Hainer said: “Thomas knows exactly what he has at FC Bayern, and we know what we have in Thomas. I can also imagine that things can happen relatively quickly.
“Thomas is an absolutely deserving player. We all want Thomas to end his career at Bayern Munich. We are in talks with him and I really hope that Thomas Müller stays with us.”
