“Audacious” £51m “Late Move” for Potential First Liverpool Signing Revealed Amid “Major Update”

Reports suggest that Liverpool, a Premier League heavyweight, are contemplating a bold last-minute attempt to secure the services of Atalanta forward Ademola Lookman.

The 26-year-old Lookman is no stranger to the Premier League, having previously played for Everton, Fulham, and Leicester City.

Though he struggled to make a significant impact during his time at Everton and Fulham, Lookman found success during his loan spell at Leicester City during the 2021/22 season.

In 2022, Serie A club Atalanta purchased Lookman from RB Leipzig for approximately £12.5 million. Since joining the Italian side, he has enjoyed two stellar seasons.

Lookman delivered an outstanding performance in last season’s Europa League final, where he netted a hat-trick in Atalanta’s 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen. To date, he has accumulated 32 goals and 18 assists in 79 appearances for the club across all competitions.

In June, reports emerged that Liverpool, along with Chelsea and Manchester United, expressed interest in Lookman and would be willing to pay £51 million to secure his signature this summer.

Liverpool have yet to make any signings this summer but remains active in the transfer market after missing out on Martin Zubimendi. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the Premier League club are “expected” to make a move soon.

He said: “Liverpool are not desperate to sign players, but movement is still there in terms of contact with agents, contact with clubs.

“So Liverpool are still moving. In case there will be opportunities in the final two weeks, I still expect Liverpool to do something on the market.”

According to a report from The Boot Room, Liverpool are reportedly “considering a late move” to acquire Lookman from Atalanta.

“Liverpool are now considering an audacious move to sign Ademola Lookman, who could strengthen Slot’s options up top.

“All of Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City have been kept informed of Lookman’s situation in Italy this summer. He asked not to play for Atalanta against Lecce on Monday because of the interest that is emerging in his signature – particularly from French champions Paris Saint-Germain.

“All of the English sides mentioned have been keeping tabs on Lookman but their interest has not gone any further at this stage.

“As for Lookman’s preference, the winger is keen to move to Paris and has made his feeling known to Atalanta’s hierarchy.”

Liverpool have been linked with PSV Eindhoven’s Johan Bakayoko as a possible alternative, but according to a ‘major update’ from Football Insider, it is ‘unlikely’ that he will join them this summer.

“Liverpool have been tracking the winger’s progress since last January and have been impressed by his displays.

“Sources say PSV will demand a fee of £35million for Bakayoko – an asking price the Reds are not willing to meet this summer due to their well-stocked attacking line.

“However, if Mohammed Salah leaves Anfield, whether it happens this year or next year, the club will consider the 21-year-old winger as a possible replacement.

“The sale of Fabio Carvalho to Brentford and the imminent exit of Bobby Clark mean Liverpool have money to spend in the transfer market, but they will not rush into any deals.”
