Arne Slot Makes Mohamed Salah Prediction as After His Latest Achievement

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, expressed his belief that Mohamed Salah still has many years remaining at the top level of football.

Salah’s contribution was pivotal in Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town, where he found the net once again.

The match marked the start of the 2024/25 season and was also Slot’s debut as head coach, having recently taken over from Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool secured the win in Saturday’s early kick-off at Portman Road, with Diogo Jota scoring the opening goal an hour into the game. Salah then added the second and final goal of the afternoon.

Salah’s goal in this match brought his total to an astonishing 300 goal contributions in just 350 appearances for Liverpool. This remarkable achievement underscores his importance to the team.

Despite being 32 years old, an age where many players begin to decline, Slot was quick to dismiss any notion that Salah’s best years are behind him.

After the match, Slot expressed his admiration for how the Egyptian forward continues to perform and maintain his physical condition at such a high level.

“If I see what he does to keep his body as it is to be ready to play every game, then I think there are many more years inside of him to play,” Slot said of Salah.

“But I’m looking now at Brentford [next Sunday] and not at the end of the season! I don’t believe in individuals, I believe more in the team.

“Mo can score goals because of good runs from other players, or because of buildups from the team. So I think Mo also needs the team.”

Salah, along with skipper Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold, has just one year remaining on his contract. If new deals are not reached by January, the trio will be permitted to negotiate with foreign clubs.

As Slot noted, he will oversee his first competitive home game next Sunday when Brentford visits Anfield.
