Liverpool are planning to intensify their efforts in the summer transfer market.
So far this off-season, the Reds have been primarily focused on international football and preparing for the summer tournaments.

Midfield arguably should not be Liverpool’s top priority this summer. Instead, the squad appears to have a more urgent need for an additional defender.

Regardless of Endo’s future, Liverpool could benefit from securing a long-term anchor for their midfield. With this in mind, journalist Fabrizio Romano reports that the Reds have reached out to Atalanta’s Ederson.
“Something to clarify on Ederson, the Brazilian midfielder of Atalanta,” Romano told his YouTube channel on Thursday evening. “Fantastic player, in the list of many clubs in terms of scouting.
“We had today reports of a bid from Liverpool for Ederson,” he added. “What I’m hearing at the moment is that Atalanta have not received any official bid for Ederson yet. They know there is interest in him but they absolutely want to keep him at the club.
“It’s also true that Liverpool made contact with the agents of Ederson recently to understand about the situation of the player.
“It doesn’t mean that Ederson is going to Liverpool or it’s close or advanced or a done deal. But they are exploring the market before deciding which players they will go for and which players they will not go for.
“This is the situation, they have been following the player, scouting the player, but they still don’t know what they will do in that position. Ederson is a player they are monitoring, they appreciate, they made contact with his agents but before saying he’s in the list we still have to wait with Atalanta.”
Ederson Looks Like a Good Fit for Liverpool
Liverpool’s interest in Ederson is understandable, given the impressive season the 24-year-old had with Atalanta.
His standout performance in the Europa League final against Bayer Leverkusen might have been the decisive factor for Liverpool.
In that match, the Brazilian midfielder dominated Xabi Alonso’s team and also excelled when facing Liverpool earlier in the competition.
Reportedly, Liverpool initially focused on scouting Atalanta to keep an eye on Teun Koopmeiners. However, Ederson’s performances captured their attention instead.
Ederson’s tough tackling and dynamic midfield play seem to align well with Liverpool’s needs. Additionally, his recent call-up to the Brazil squad for the Copa America indicates his career is on the rise.
He appears ready to take the next big step in his career. It remains to be seen if Liverpool will make a move.
