What Arne Slot Plans to Do With ‘Exceptional’ Liverpool Attacker in Fresh Transfer Update

Liverpool forward Fabio Carvalho aims to make a significant impact under the guidance of new manager Arne Slot.

In the summer of 2022, the 21-year-old signed with the Reds and participated in 21 matches across various competitions during his first season. Jurgen Klopp described him as “exceptional,” but the club decided that a loan move would be beneficial for his development.

However, his loan spell at RB Leipzig did not go as planned. He made only three starts, prompting the Reds to recall him in January.

The former Fulham attacking midfielder then moved to Hull City, where he regained his confidence and form. He scored nine goals and contributed two assists in 20 appearances, helping Hull City come close to securing a play-off spot.

The Athletic reports that Carvalho will have a chance to impress in the upcoming pre-season. Slot appreciates his potential and believes he could fit well into the new 4-2-3-1 system.

Nevertheless, with intense competition for positions, if Carvalho does not perform, the club might consider another loan or a permanent transfer.

Fabio Carvalho Deserves a Fair Opportunity to Impress Slot

Carvalho deserves a genuine opportunity to impress the Dutch manager. He was outstanding for Hull City and should aim to replicate that performance if given a fair chance.

Nonetheless, Liverpool are well-stocked in their attacking midfield positions, and Carvalho might face increased competition if the Reds decide to add one or two quality players in that area.

The manager needs to make significant decisions regarding players returning from loans. Nathaniel Phillips is almost certain to depart, and the same is likely for young right-back Calvin Ramsay.

In contrast, players like Luke Chambers, Tyler Morton, Sepp van den Berg, and Owen Beck could be offered chances to prove themselves.

Carvalho has shown he can deliver moments of brilliance. Now, he needs to demonstrate that he is capable of playing regularly for Liverpool.
