Liverpool to Announce Release List as Double Exit Already Confirmed

Liverpool have already made a number of key announcements ahead of the new season and another is expected in the near future.

One of the most notable announcements this week was the appointment of Arne Slot as the new head coach for the Reds. This confirmation came after agreeing on a compensation package of approximately £9.4 million with Feyenoord.

Arne Slot takes over from the iconic manager Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. With this change, there will be a need for new additions, as most of Klopp’s backroom staff have departed.

This includes Pep Lijnders, who is set to become the head coach of Red Bull Salzburg, and goalkeeping coach John Achterberg.

Regarding the playing staff, it is well known that Thiago Alcantara and Joel Matip will leave when their contracts expire at the end of next month. Both players attended a special farewell at Anfield last weekend.

Additionally, another senior player likely to exit soon is Adrian, although this has not been officially confirmed yet.

The experienced goalkeeper, who was the third choice behind Alisson Becker and Caoimhin Kelleher last season, plans to leave.

Adrian Wants Spain Return

“I would like to return to LaLiga after 11 seasons in the Premier League. It would be the end of a cycle,” he explained when speaking to Movistar Plus+ in an interview as per Muchodeporte. “I’m still ready to compete. I feel very good despite being 37.

“You know that goalkeepers, if you take good care of yourself, if you haven’t had any serious injuries lately and you’re fine, the daily training gives you that intensity that makes you compete.

“I think Adrian [the player] has a long time left and it’s true that I would like to return to LaLiga. It has to be a nice, interesting project.”

Having said that, Adrian did not rule out the prospect of staying put: “I haven’t sat down with Liverpool yet either,” he added.

“I don’t rule out that we could have a pending conversation, but it is true that we will be looking out of the corner of our eye to see what happens in LaLiga.”

Whatever the case may be, the entire situation will soon become clear. Based on last year’s pattern and information from Liverpoolfc.com, an announcement regarding the players being released, whether senior, Under-21s, or Under-18s, is expected in early June.

Nearly a year ago, the club confirmed that Roberto Firmino, Naby Keita, James Milner, and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain would be leaving on free transfers, along with Jack Bearne, Liam Hughes, Charlie Hayes-Green, Oscar Kelly, Fidel O’Rourke, Oludare Olufunwa, and Iwan Roberts.

Additionally, it was announced that Adrian had been offered a new contract, which he accepted by signing a one-year extension.

Therefore, there should be an update on the 37-year-old’s future in the coming weeks. He may either stay for another year or, like Thiago and Matip, bid farewell to Liverpool Football Club.
