Liverpool Now in Pole Position to Sign ‘Incredible’ Defender Faster Than Phil Foden

Liverpool are in the market for a new center-back this summer.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Reds are actively pursuing a deal to secure a new center-half. Recently, there has been speculation that Benfica’s Antonio Silva might be a potential target for Liverpool.

Silva is regarded as one of Europe’s most promising young defenders, and Liverpool are reportedly very interested in acquiring him.

Liverpool Favourites to Sign Antonio Silva

According to SportsLens, Liverpool are leading the race to sign Antonio Silva this summer.

The report indicates that Benfica have accepted the likelihood of losing Silva, who could become one of Arne Slot’s initial signings at Liverpool, with an opening offer expected soon.

Liverpool need defensive reinforcements following Joel Matip’s departure, and Silva could be the perfect addition.

Young, talented, and exceptionally fast, Silva appears to be an ideal fit for the Reds.

The ‘incredible’ defender is among the fastest in the game, with The Speeds Database recording him as even faster than Phil Foden.

Liverpool are reportedly the frontrunners to sign Silva, potentially holding a significant advantage in the negotiations.

The return of Julian Ward to Liverpool might be a key factor in securing Silva, given his strong friendship with Benfica’s President, Rui Costa.

Neil Jones highlighted on The Redmen TV last year the close relationship between Ward and Costa, underscoring its potential impact on the transfer.

“Rui Costa, it’s funny you mention him, I know Julian Ward is on his way out, but he has a good relationship with Julian Ward,” Jones said.

“I’ve heard Julian Ward speak about Rui Costa and their conversations in the past, not about players, but Julian was involved with the Portuguese FA so it’s that sort of thing. It ticks a lot of boxes there.”

With Ward returning to Liverpool, the Reds might find it easier to negotiate a deal, given that the line of communication between Costa and Ward is already established.
