Journalist Claims Liverpool Will Formally Interview “Ambitious” Manager This April

Liverpool are set to transition to the next phase of their search for a new manager.

Since Jurgen Klopp’s announcement of his departure in January, the Reds have been actively seeking his successor.

The landscape of potential candidates for the Anfield hot seat has shifted significantly over the months.

Despite being initially considered a leading contender, Xabi Alonso has removed himself from consideration. Similarly, Roberto De Zerbi appears to have withdrawn from contention. The pool of viable replacements for Klopp is notably limited.

Reports suggest that Liverpool are nearing a final decision and are preparing to conduct interviews with the few who could fill the role.

Liverpool Set to Interview Ruben Amorim

His commendable track record in Portugal spanning five years, during which he is poised to clinch his second league title in four seasons, solidifies his candidacy.

Despite initial speculation surrounding Alonso, Liverpool’s pursuit of Amorim gained traction, with rumors circulating that a deal had been struck. However, Amorim himself has refuted these claims.

Nevertheless, journalist Ben Jacobs claims that an interview with Amorim is now deemed ‘inevitable’ in the coming weeks.

“Ruben Amorim has now clarified he hasn’t yet had a formal interview to replace Jurgen Klopp,” Jacobs tells CaughtOffside. “And my understanding remains that mid-to-late April has always been the period Liverpool planned to start interviews.

“Amorim is inevitably going to get an interview, there is pretty much no doubt about that, but so will other managers. Liverpool, as ever, have a process and aren’t going to rush anything or put all their hopes on one candidate alone. That’s just not how they work.

“Their search will be discreet and thorough. The way they carry out these types of senior leadership and football appointments is a credit to the club.”

The aspect that catches attention isn’t merely Liverpool’s interview with Amorim, as Jacobs suggests it’s been expected. Acknowledged as ‘ambitious’ by his former Braga staff [The Athletic], he’ll undoubtedly relish the opportunity.

What’s intriguing is the suggestion that Sporting’s boss won’t be the sole candidate Liverpool considers. The identities of these potential candidates remain a mystery.

Although names like Niko Kovac have surfaced, they’ve been ruled out. While Julian Nagelsmann could have been a contender, he seems bound for Bayern Munich. The question remains: who else could it be?

In our view, there’s still a possibility Liverpool might surprise and appoint a promising young coach like Nuri Sahin. Perhaps even Fernando Torres could enter the fray. Let’s wait and see; clarity might emerge by May.
