Jamie Carragher Singles Out One Liverpool Player Who Played “in Slow Motion” After FA Cup Knockout

Liverpool’s FA Cup journey came to an abrupt end at the hands of Manchester United, despite leading the game twice at Old Trafford.

The Reds’ quadruple aspirations were dashed as they suffered a 4-3 defeat in extra time.

Jamie Carragher, reacting to the match, likened Cody Gakpo’s performance for Liverpool to moving “in slow motion.”

Scott McTominay opened the scoring for United, but Liverpool responded with Alexis Mac Allister’s equaliser followed by Mo Salah’s goal just before halftime.

Jurgen Klopp’s team dominated the second half but failed to capitalise on their chances, ultimately conceding a late equaliser to Antony.

Harvey Elliott briefly restored Liverpool’s lead in extra time, only for Marcus Rashford to level the score for United. A late counter-attack led by Amad sealed Liverpool’s fate, leaving them devastated.

Former Liverpool defender Carragher wrote on X (formerly Twitter): “Unbelievable game & it’s a great result for Man United but Liverpool only have themselves to blame. Scored three & still the attacking players were all very poor.

“Can’t complain too much as they’ve been amazing all season. Football bloody hell!”

Gakpo substituted in for Liverpool during the second half. Despite having a prime chance with a five-vs-two scenario to secure a two-goal lead, the Dutch player made a misguided choice and failed to make a significant impact throughout the rest of the match. Carragher said: “Gakpo plays like the game is in slow motion.”
