Liverpool Reportedly Send Scouts to Watch Two Targets as Potential Double-deal Lined Up

Liverpool are said to have sent scouts to observe two targets, including a manager and a player, with a potential double-deal lined up.

The Reds have been actively searching for Jurgen Klopp successor after the announcement of his departure at the end of the 23/24 season in January.

Several names, including Xabi Alonso, Roberto De Zerbi, Julian Nagelsmann, and Ange Postecoglou, have been linked with the managerial position at Anfield.

According to a report by the Daily Mail, Liverpool’s scouting contingent has been deployed to monitor Sporting Lisbon, a Portuguese club whose manager, Ruben Amorim has been touted as a candidate for the impending vacancy at Anfield.

The report indicates that Liverpool’s scouts have attended several of Sporting’s matches, including their recent triumph over Benfica in the cup.

In addition to assessing Amorim, it is suggested that Liverpool’s scouts have also been assessing Sporting defender Ousmane Diomande. He is perceived as a potential future signing for the Reds, adding further intrigue to Liverpool’s scouting mission.

The Ivorian joined the Portuguese club from Midtjylland in January 2023 and has consistently impressed since then. Sporting are estimated to value Diomande at around £70 million.

Following the announcement of Klopp’s departure, Liverpool CEO Billy Hogan discussed the process of appointing their new manager.

He said: “I think from our perspective, I don’t want to set an expectation because it’s a process we will go through.

“The way we operate as a football club is to look at all the information, the data and with due diligence and then make our decision.

“I can’t put a time on it – it will happen behind the scenes. It’s not to be a distraction… it’s about the campaign continuing and the team continuing to perform.”

Hogan added: “When we have something to say, we will have something to say at that point. [It will be] the same process that brought us Jurgen and that’s something we will do in private, with the people here and ownership.
