Eight Most Underrated Players in the History of Liverpool – Opinion

Latest Liverpool news today as Newsnow Liverpool takes a look at eight most underrated players in the history of the club.

Below are the eight most underrated Liverpool players.

Xabi Alonso 🇪🇸

If Xabi would’ve stayed at Liverpool his whole career he would’ve been just as loved and cherished as Steven Gerrard. He is one of the most special midfielders to play the game and sometimes I think we forget how lucky we were as fans to have him

Roberto Firmino 🇧🇷

Bobby was a special player and so loved by Liverpool fans. He was never the one getting the attention in the front 3 of Mane, Salah, and Firmino, but the contributions he made to Liverpool’s success and attack are impossible NOT to notice. One of a kind.

Georginio Wijnaldum 🇳🇱

A lovely player who always helped us when we needed him. I still can not, and will not ever forget his goals against Barcelona. Made me scream in class. Gini will forever be remembered as absolute class.

Jerzy Dudek 🇵🇱

Dudek was not only a great goalie, but also was the unsung hero of the 2005 UCL final in Istanbul. He had some amazing saves near the end of the game and came up big for us in the penalty shootout. He definitely doesn’t get the praise he deserves for that!

Diviock Origi 🇧🇪

If you can’t recognize Diviock Origi as a Liverpool legend, I really don’t know what to say. This man was one of the most clutch players of all time and always came up big whenever Liverpool needed him. He was ALWAYS a difference maker.

Joel Matip 🇸🇳

Everything Matip has done for Liverpool FC is unmeasurable. Easily one of the best free transfers of all time. Although Van Dijk always seemed to be the CB everyone talked about for LFC, there’s no denying the importance Matip has had for this team.

James Milner 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Sometimes I don’t think we recognize how Special Milner really was. Not only could he play ANYWHERE on the pitch, he could play it well. He was our Swiss Army knife, and wow was he good at what he did. A Premier League great in my opinion.

Lucas Leiva 🇧🇷

The Brazilian was a special player. Although he doesn’t seemed to be talked about anymore, his stay from 2008-2017 can’t be forgotten, as he helped Liverpool immensely in the midfield.
