Report: Liverpool Superstar Doesn’t Want to Leave at the Same Time as Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah is reportedly more likely to stay at Anfield rather than seek a transfer during the upcoming 2024 summer window, as per GiveMeSport.

The 31-year-old has been the subject of transfer speculation linking him to the Saudi Pro League, particularly after a failed attempt from the Middle East during the final hours of the 2023 summer transfer window.

Liverpool are anticipated to undergo a transitional phase at the conclusion of the 2023/24 season, with Jurgen Klopp confirming his departure from the managerial position.

Salah aims to play a pivotal role in guiding the Reds to success in both the Premier League and Europa League during Klopp’s final tenure at the club.

On the final day of the 2023 summer transfer window, Liverpool rejected a £150m bid from Al Ittihad, the champions of the Saudi Pro League, in their attempt to acquire Mohamed Salah for the Middle East.

Throughout the window, there was significant attention on Salah, with numerous offers from Saudi clubs dominating discussions. Despite the interest, Salah ultimately remained with Liverpool after the close of the transfer window.

He continued to excel for Jurgen Klopp’s team, contributing significantly to their challenge for the Premier League title and their progress to the Europa League quarter-finals, where they faced Atalanta. Salah’s contract with Liverpool is scheduled to end in the summer of 2025.

In February, former Tottenham Hotspur striker Mido claimed that Salah would be moving to Saudi Arabia and that the contracts had been finalised. However, he did not provide specific details regarding the timing or destination of the potential transfer, suggesting that such reports should be treated with caution.

The GiveMeSport report claims that Salah is less likely to depart from Liverpool this summer than some reports suggest. While there is anticipation of an offer from Saudi Arabia, journalist Ben Jacobs previously suggested in November that although there could be a substantial offer for the Egyptian international to leave this year, it is not as certain as it may seem.

Salah Ready to Stay at Liverpool After Jurgen Klopp Departure

According to the report, Salah is inclined to remain at Liverpool following Klopp’s departure at the close of the 2023/24 season.

The experienced forward has long been associated with the 56-year-old’s triumphs on Merseyside but has not indicated any intention to depart alongside Klopp this upcoming summer.

While Salah’s contract expires in under 18 months, making any offer for his talents worth considering, there’s the looming possibility of him departing for a significantly reduced fee, or even on a free transfer come 2025. It is suggested that the future of the 96-cap Egypt star could hinge on the financial offerings presented during negotiations for his retention.

Despite the contractual uncertainty and his advancing age, the probability remains higher for Salah to extend his stay rather than depart from Merseyside in the upcoming transfer window.

Liverpool must now initiate their plans to groom a successor for the talented winger, who has amassed nearly every accolade during his tenure at Anfield.
