Liverpool Sent Xabi Alonso Warning as the Spaniard’s Possible Next Destination Revealed

According Express Sport, Liverpool will need to change their summer managerial strategy as Xabi Alonso does not wish to join the club.

Despite being earmarked as the leading candidate to succeed Jurgen Klopp, it seems unlikely that the Spaniard will make the move now.

Klopp declared his departure from Liverpool this summer in January, citing “he’s running out of energy” during his tenure at Anfield. He believed in taking prompt responsibility for the decision, given the backing from the club’s higher management.

The announcement prompted Liverpool to search for a new manager, with several options under consideration to ensure a smooth transition and sustained success.

Xabi Alonso emerged as Liverpool’s top target, buoyed by his impressive performance at Bayer Leverkusen. The former Real Madrid midfielder has steered his team to an undefeated start in the Bundesliga, leading the league by 10 points.

Yet, Liverpool face competition in securing Alonso’s services, with Bayern Munich also vying for the 42-year-old’s signature. Following the decision to part ways with Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich has entered the race to appoint Alonso as their manager.

According to Sky Sports Germany as relayed by Express Sport, the Allianz Arena team is currently at the forefront of the competition to secure the appointment of the Spaniard.

There is a growing sense of confidence within the club that an agreement will be reached once negotiations commence.

It report states that if Alonso chooses to part ways with Leverkusen after the current campaign, he will opt for Bayern Munich over Liverpool.

The Reds are expected to continue their pursuit of the ex-midfielder until an official decision is made by Alonso himself, potentially leading to consideration of alternative options.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi and Sporting’s Ruben Amorim have emerged as viable alternatives for Liverpool. Both coaches are highly regarded in Europe and are seen as among the most promising talents in the coaching world alongside Alonso.

Former Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann has also been mentioned as a potential candidate for the vacant position if he opts for club management over the Germany national team.
