Fabinho Gives Frank Response on the Possibility of Salah Joining Him in Saudi Arabia

Speaking to talkSPORT, Fabinho affirmed that Mohamed Salah is content at Liverpool and expresses a desire for his former teammate to continue time at Anfield rather than opting for a move to Saudi Arabia.

During the summer, the Brazilian midfielder departed Merseyside to join Al Ittihad. Despite the club presenting a world-record bid to entice Salah to join him, the attempt proved unsuccessful.

The Saudi Pro League champions had submitted a substantial offer, escalating to £150 million, which was rejected by the Reds for the 31-year-old – a decision that has proven fruitful.

Salah has emerged as Liverpool’s leading scorer this season, with his 14 goals contributing significantly to their top position in the Premier League. Additionally, the Egyptian star recently marked a milestone by scoring his 200th goal for the club.

In achieving this feat, he becomes only the fifth player in Liverpool’s history to reach such a goal tally. As a double centurion, Salah further solidifies his standing as an all-time legend at Anfield.

Persistent speculations in the Middle East continue regarding Salah’s potential move, keeping clubs intrigued. Despite his contract with Liverpool, securing the position of the highest-paid player until June 2025, the 31-year-old forward showcases remarkable form this season, earning praise from Jurgen Klopp, who marvels at Salah’s enduring physical prowess.

As the transfer window approaches, Al Ittihad’s interest in Salah remains a possibility, with Pro League leaders eager to replicate the success of attracting global football icons like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar, and Karim Benzema.

However, a ray of hope for Liverpool fans emerges as one of Al Ittihad’s own stars expresses a desire for Salah to stay, emphasising the talisman’s commitment.

Following Al Ittihad’s 3-0 victory over Auckland City in the FIFA Club World Cup, former Liverpool midfielder Fabinho hinted at Salah’s inclination to remain with the club, at least for the time being, during an interview with talkSPORT: “At this moment Mo Salah is happy at Liverpool.

“He’s scoring goals every game and he has been their best player. I’m very happy for Mo.

“This season he will stay at Liverpool so I wish him all the best and hope he keeps scoring goals and winning trophies with Liverpool.”

Fabinho, who secured victory in the Club World Cup with the Reds in 2019, expressed that he is actively monitoring their performances this season. He is pleased to witness his former teammates currently at the forefront of the title race.

“I’m really happy for the boys,” said the Brazilian.

“At the moment they are top of the league, of course there is still much to play in the Premier League and there are some clubs next to them like Arsenal, Man City, even Aston Villa, they are doing very well this season.

“So there is much to play in the competition, but it is always good to be at the top. You always have to try to be top of the league and winning games and Liverpool are doing this now.

“They are finding a way to win and finding goals after the 90 minutes, and this is really good. It shows their mentality and shows how good they are.

“They are really focussed on trying to win the championship.”

Al Ittihad stand as a top contender to clinch victory in the upcoming Club World Cup, set to take place in Saudi Arabia this winter. Should they advance to the final, Fabinho anticipates a potential encounter with a familiar adversary, yet, for the team’s championship aspirations, he prefers to avoid such a scenario.

“I want to be in the final… and then to be honest I don’t want to play against Man City, because I know how good they are!”
