Jurgen Klopp is poised to face the challenge of an absent six-man first-team squad as Liverpool gears up for the clash with Sheffield United on Wednesday, with injuries taking a toll at Anfield.
The AXA Centre’s treatment room welcomed Joel Matip as its latest occupant after he was subbed out in the second half of Sunday’s comeback victory against Fulham. Matip’s setback adds to the injury list that already includes Diogo Jota and Alisson Becker, both of whom suffered injuries in Liverpool’s 1-1 draw with Manchester City last month.
During his press conference on Tuesday, Klopp conveyed that Matip might endure an extended period on the sidelines due to an injury he said “doesn’t look good.”
For the upcoming visit to Bramall Lane against Sheffield United on Wednesday, Liverpool will be missing the trio mentioned earlier, along with Andy Robertson, Thiago Alcantara, and Stefan Bajcetic.
These players have all endured extended periods on the sidelines in the past few months.
