‘Has Gone’: Carragher Blãsts Liverpool After What He Saw Against Forest and Aims Transfer Message at FSG

Liverpool had to settle for a draw from a challenging game against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday.

The Reds anticipated a tough encounter against a Forest side riding high on a seven-game winning streak across all competitions.

This expectation proved accurate from the very start, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team demonstrating why they currently occupy third place in the Premier League table.

Despite Liverpool beginning the game on a positive note, they failed to capitalise on their early pressure and conceded a soft goal to Chris Wood.

The goal’s simplicity highlighted a worrying lapse in Liverpool’s previously solid defensive structure from earlier in the Premier League season.

Former Reds defender Jamie Carragher, watching on, expressed his frustration at the team’s performance.

Jamie Carragher Unimpressed by Liverpool Defending

Liverpool initially appeared nearly impossible to break down defensively earlier in the season.

The Reds started the campaign in dominant fashion at the back, with Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konate forming a formidable partnership.

However, Konate admitted before the match that he was not fully fit, and this was evident in his performance on Tuesday.

To Liverpool’s credit, they improved defensively as the game progressed. Nonetheless, Jamie Carragher, posting on X immediately after the final whistle, issued a cautionary message to his former club.

“Liverpool should’ve won tonight, but they continue to create big chances even in the games they don’t win, but the defensive solidity they had at the start of the season has gone,” he says.

“Always look likely to concede. Buy a defender!!!!”

Carragher is unlikely to be the only one urging Liverpool to invest in a new defender.

The Reds are currently stretched thin in defence, with Joe Gomez still not fully recovered.

Similarly, Konate appears far from being in peak condition, which is a significant concern for the team.

Despite these issues, it seems highly improbable that Liverpool will make any signings in January, let alone bring in a defender.
