“I Have Seen Enough”: Alan Shearer Shares Fresh Title Prediction After Seeing Liverpool Beat Chelsea on Sunday
Liverpool’s strong start under Arne Slot continued this weekend, as they managed to overcome Chelsea and maintain their position at the top of the table.
Curtis Jones’ winning goal secured the victory for the Reds, and with Arsenal’s defeat at Bournemouth, it proved to be a significant weekend for Slot’s team.
Many within the sport had previously doubted whether Liverpool had enough strength to compete with both Manchester City and Arsenal for the top spot.
However, with City barely edging past Wolves and Arsenal suffering a defeat, Liverpool are now being viewed as serious contenders.
Alan Shearer has echoed this sentiment, stating that he sees Liverpool as genuine challengers for the title.
Alan Shearer Makes New Title Prediction Involving Liverpool
During the latest episode of the Rest Is Football podcast, Shearer discussed Liverpool’s prospects of competing for the title.
Following their victory over Chelsea, Shearer made a bold prediction about the Reds’ chances of success this season.
“I thought it (the title race) would be between Arsenal and City, but I have seen enough in Liverpool already this season,” Shearer said.
“If they can avoid injuries and keep the majority of that squad fit, they will be challenging those two definitely.”
Arne Slot took over a well-assembled team from Jurgen Klopp, and it’s clear that they have a group of 15-16 players who are fully capable of competing at the highest level.
Nonetheless, if Liverpool find themselves in contention by January, it could be a smart move for FSG to support Slot by bringing in one or possibly two more players to strengthen the squad.
While Mo Salah continues to score plenty of goals, there is a case to be made that Liverpool still lacks a true finisher in the number nine role.
With Diogo Jota suffering an injury over the weekend, the burden will now shift to Darwin Nunez to step up.
By January, securing a new striker may be the key for the Reds to maintain their momentum and push forward.
