‘Struck Gold’: Ian Wright Says There’s a Player Emerging at Liverpool Who ‘Seems to have Everything’

Liverpool regained their form in the Premier League with a relatively comfortable victory over Bournemouth on Saturday.

While the 3-0 scoreline may suggest a straightforward win, the match was not entirely without its challenges. However, the Reds never seemed in real danger of repeating the disappointing defeat they suffered against Nottingham Forest the previous week.

Several standout performances from within Liverpool’s squad contributed to their success in this match.

Gabriel Agbonlahor highlighted four Liverpool players who particularly impressed him at Anfield. Most of the team appeared to be returning to their best form under Arne Slot’s guidance.

Once again, Ryan Gravenberch was among the players who stood out. The Dutch midfielder is making a strong case to be considered Liverpool’s player of the season thus far, and he dominated the midfield in the game against Bournemouth.

Although Gravenberch is beginning to show the kind of consistency that suggests he could be Liverpool’s long-term solution in defensive midfield, pundit Ian Wright believes there’s still one area where he needs to improve.

Ian Wright Makes Ryan Gravenberch Wish

Gravenberch’s transformation at Liverpool has been remarkable. The 22-year-old has shifted from being a peripheral player to becoming a key figure in just six games.

Speculation continues that Liverpool may revisit their interest in Martin Zubimendi during the next two transfer windows. However, Gravenberch is making a strong case to prove that the Spaniard may no longer be necessary.

Whether Liverpool embrace that perspective remains to be seen and will likely be clarified over the coming months.

However, according to Wright, Liverpool might have actually benefitted from Zubimendi’s decision to turn down a move to Anfield this summer.

On The Kelly & Wrighty Show, the former Arsenal striker suggested that the vacancy in midfield allowed Liverpool to ‘strike gold’ with Gravenberch.

Wright did caution that he would like to see Gravenberch tested against the Premier League’s elite teams before making any sweeping judgments.

“You could say that with Zubimendi not going through, they could have really unearthed the one for themselves now,” says the pundit.

“Because when you watch those games, and obviously, we want to see him against the maybe the top three, top four, and if he’s putting in those kind of performances, then obviously Liverpool have like struck gold because he seems to have everything, He has got all the attributes.”

Gravenberch does face some competition in this area, but it’s clear that he has been Liverpool’s standout player under Arne Slot thus far.

It’s not just that the Dutch international has shown significant improvement, but he has consistently been one of the top three performers in nearly every match.

Gravenberch has quickly become a key player for Slot, and now, he deserves a rest.

Last season, Gravenberch was regularly featured in the Carabao Cup and Europa League.

However, in the predicted lineup for Liverpool’s upcoming match against West Ham on Wednesday, Gravenberch is not included. This is a testament to his progress. If anyone deserves a break when the Hammers visit, it’s Ryan Gravenberch.
