The Wait for a New Signing May Soon Come to an End as Romano Reveals Player Really Wants to Join Liverpool

A rising star in La Liga is reportedly waiting to join Liverpool this summer as the club considers a potential transfer move.

The summer has been challenging for Liverpool, as they have yet to make a new signing during Arne Slot’s first transfer window as manager.

The club have undergone significant changes, including Jürgen Klopp’s departure and Slot stepping into the role. Additionally, Richard Hughes has been appointed as the new sporting director.

With less than three weeks remaining in the transfer window, pressure is mounting on Hughes to secure Liverpool’s first summer signing before the new Premier League season begins.

Liverpool have remained patient, focusing on signing players who can genuinely enhance their squad. The club have been targeting a new midfielder, with Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad identified as a key target.

Initially, Liverpool were optimistic about securing Zubimendi’s signature. However, it was reported on Monday night that Zubimendi has declined the opportunity to join Liverpool this summer and may instead opt to extend his contract with Real Sociedad.

This development has increased the pressure on Hughes as Liverpool continue their search for their first summer acquisition. However, a recent transfer update suggests that the wait for a new signing may soon come to an end.

Mamardashvili is Waiting to Join Liverpool

Fabrizio Romano reported over the weekend that Liverpool were considering a move to sign Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

According to Romano’s latest update on X, the player is highly motivated to join Liverpool before potentially going out on loan, with hopes of eventually succeeding Alisson as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.

Mamardashvili, who is 23 years old, has been with Valencia on a permanent basis since January 2022. He initially joined the club in 2021 on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi and now views a move to Liverpool as a significant career opportunity.

However, he will need to wait and see if Liverpool’s decision-makers, including Hughes and FSG, agree on a deal estimated at around €30m (£25m). Romano added that the Reds’ executives have scheduled a meeting to discuss the potential transfer.

Mamardashvili has three years remaining on his contract with the Spanish club, but the chance to join a team like Liverpool might be too tempting at this point in his career. Consequently, Valencia may need to consider allowing the goalkeeper to leave.
