Liverpool Suffer Double Injury Blow Ahead of Arsenal as Curtis Jones Update Issued After Real Betis Win
Curtis Jones had to leave the field during Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Real Betis.
Arne Slot is optimistic that the injury Jones sustained in Liverpool’s pre-season match against Real Betis is not severe.
The midfielder exited the game within the first 30 minutes of the 1-0 victory in Pittsburgh, part of their USA tour.
Slot is already dealing with a shortage of senior players in the States due to Euro 2024 and Copa America.
Additionally, Jones has expressed his happiness working under Liverpool’s new head coach, who replaced Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season.
Liverpool’s upcoming match on their American tour is against Premier League opponents Arsenal in Philadelphia on Thursday at 00:30 BST.
Jones is scheduled to have tests prior to the game. Slot mentioned to LFCTV: “I’m not expecting it to be really worse. Ideally, he would have played on, of course. I don’t think it’s a big problem but we have to wait and see when they test it tomorrow.
“[I’m] not so happy because he did really well in the last few weeks and was looking forward to seeing him in this position”
James McConnell had to sit out the Betis game because of a minor problem. Liverpool are also missing Andy Robertson, who is recovering from an injury he got while playing for Scotland at Euro 2024.
Dominik Szoboszlai scored the only goal in the Betis match, securing Slot’s first win as Anfield manager.
