Liverpool Could Seal Their First Summer Signing as the Reds Plot New Bid for “Fearless” PL Star Who’s Better Than Luis Diaz

Liverpool are reportedly plotting a renewed bid for a summer target well-known to Trent Alexander-Arnold, following the breakdown of initial talks.

Unlike last summer, when players like Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister had already joined by this time, this transfer window has been relatively quiet for Liverpool.

New sporting director Richard Hughes attributed the slow activity to ongoing international tournaments. In his first press conference with new manager Arne Slot, he explained this to the media:

“I think naturally when there are major competitions during the summer – a World Cup, a European Championship and in this case a Copa America and the Olympics as well, so there’s a lot of football being played – naturally the attention is going to be there.

“After the flurry that there was in June, I think it will calm down a little bit, [that] would be my prediction for the month of July and then, like always, when August starts and coaches have had more time to work with players, I think then the opinions will be more set at football clubs and then you may see a situation in August which is, like in previous seasons, there’s a little bit of hurry to get things done and to make sure that everyone’s squads are in order.”

Amidst the activity, the Reds might secure their first summer signing, targeting a prominent Premier League player.

According to Pete O’Rourke of Football Insider, Liverpool are preparing a new offer to acquire Anthony Gordon from Newcastle United after an initial attempt fell through.

Initial reports suggested that an agreement couldn’t be reached as Liverpool were reluctant to include Jarell Quansah in a proposed swap deal.

However, Gordon was reportedly intrigued by the possibility of joining Liverpool, providing the Reds with a potential advantage.

Despite Newcastle’s current lack of urgency to sell players due to PSR compliance, they have set Gordon’s value at a minimum of £70m. Nonetheless, Liverpool appear to be planning another bid.

Anthony Gordon is Better Than Luis Diaz

A boyhood Liverpool fan, Gordon would see his dreams come true if he moved to Anfield, joining his England teammate and fellow Scouser Trent Alexander-Arnold.

However, he wouldn’t have much time to savor the moment, as competing for a spot against Luis Diaz would be no small task under Slot’s management in the upcoming season. Based on last season’s performance, though, Gordon is more than capable of rising to the challenge.

Gordon’s performance is immediately more impressive than Diaz’s successful dribbles, especially considering Liverpool’s struggles with finishing in the final third last season.

Previously described as “fearless” by Alan Shearer, Gordon embodies precisely what Liverpool missed in their last campaign.
