Liverpool Will Face Competition from European Rival for 29-year-old Midfielder as Agent Confirms Transfer Talks
In recently weeks, there have been some links between Liverpool and Joshua Kimmich, as speculation grows about his potential departure from Bayern Munich.
Last week, Arne Slot held his inaugural Liverpool press conference, marking a significant milestone in the club’s new era.
During the event, sporting director Richard Hughes revealed that he has daily discussions with Slot regarding potential transfer deals in preparation for the upcoming pre-season.
Hughes declined to comment on the contract situations of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk, and Mohamed Salah, although it is expected that all three will remain with the club.
In the meantime, there have been rumours linking Bayern Munich midfielder Joshua Kimmich with a move, as he is anticipated to leave this summer.
Bayern Munich are reportedly set to acquire Fulham star Joao Palhinha, which could facilitate Kimmich’s departure amid tensions with the club.
Joshua Kimmich Transfer Update
If Liverpool decide to pursue Joshua Kimmich, they may face competition from a European rival. According to the French outlet RMC Sport, Paris Saint-Germain plan to make a move for the midfielder if it becomes apparent that he will leave Bayern Munich.
Kimmich, who has won eight Bundesliga titles, a Champions League, and three German Cups, has also been linked with Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid. The 29-year-old has just 12 months remaining on his contract.
Liverpool are expected to look for a new midfielder this summer, especially after Thiago Alcantara’s departure at the end of his contract last month. Kimmich is versatile, capable of playing as a midfield pivot or a right-back.
Michele Di Gregorio’s Agent Confirms Liverpool Talks
The agent of goalkeeper Michele Di Gregorio revealed that Liverpool approached him regarding a potential transfer before Di Gregorio’s move to Juventus from Monza.
With Caoimhin Kelleher expected to leave this summer and Adrian yet to renew his contract, the Reds might be preparing for changes in their goalkeeping lineup.
In an interview with TV Play, Di Gregorio’s agent, Carlo Belloni, mentioned that Liverpool’s interest came too late for his client.
“There were talks with Liverpool and, obviously, we were very pleased to hear from them,” he said.
“However, we had no doubts about the choice after speaking with [Cristiano] Giuntoli (Juventus sporting director).
“We remained faithful to Juve because it was what he wanted, what Juve wanted and Thiago Motta immediately came up with Di Gregorio’s name.”
