“We Know” – Journalist Shares Transfer Update Out of Liverpool as “Number One Priority” Named

Liverpool are prioritising the acquisition of a wide, creative-minded player this summer. This move is considered their number one priority in the transfer window, according to journalist Ben Jacobs.

Although the departures of Mo Salah and Luis Diaz seem unlikely in the near future, the Reds are open to securing their future replacements in this summer transfer.

In the 12 months, both forwards were linked with potential moves to Saudi Arabia. Liverpool notably turned down a £150 million bid for Salah last summer.

Recent rumours indicate that Diaz might be heading to the Saudi Pro League this summer. However, Jacobs reports that Liverpool are not ready to part ways with the 27-year-old just yet.

Following a series of significant exits last summer, which saw players like Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino, Fabinho, and James Milner leave, Liverpool are expected to retain their core squad this time around.

As new manager Arne Slot gears up for his inaugural season at Anfield, maintaining the majority of senior players could aid the Dutchman in preparing for his Premier League debut, succeeding Jurgen Klopp.

Liverpool ‘Don’t Want’ to Lose Salah and Diaz

Their priority is a new winger.

Liverpool are determined to retain their key players, Mo Salah and Luis Diaz, for at least one more season, according to Jacobs to GIVEMESPORT:

“What we know about Liverpool’s summer plans is that the number one priority is a wide, creative-minded player, whether winger or wide forward.

“And that’s not an indication necessarily that either Mo Salah or Luis Diaz is going anywhere, the expectation is that Liverpool don’t want to lose Diaz and Salah will stay at least for one more season.”

Recently, Liverpool have been linked with Leeds winger Crysencio Summerville, who was named the Championship Player of the Season last campaign.

With Leeds not securing promotion, Summerville might be available at a reduced price this summer, estimated to be around £30-40 million.

Liverpool Keen to Sign the ‘Next Young Name’

Crysencio Summerville is on their list

Jacobs suggests that Summerville’s signing could align with Liverpool’s strategy this summer, as the Reds aim to recruit emerging young talent before their current stars move on.

“But what Liverpool tend to do is try and bring in the next young name in a core position where they know they need to strengthen when the incumbent is still there.

“So what some clubs do is they lose someone, and then they have to replace and if they don’t replace, the fans feel the squad is weaker.

“What Liverpool tend to do is keep the name that is integral to the side whilst trying to get the next name in early.

“So then it gives that young name, a period of transition where maybe their role and their minutes in their first season are not quite as high.”

Liverpool are expected to face competition for Summerville this summer, as Chelsea has also expressed interest in the 22-year-old, who has just finished his third senior season in England.
