Four Players Liverpool Could Offer Brentford to Seal Bryan Mbeumo Swap Deal

Liverpool are competing with Newcastle this summer to sign Bryan Mbeumo.

Liverpool are reportedly competing with Newcastle for the potential signing of Brentford star Bryan Mbeumo, who has expressed his desire to play in the biggest competitions.

With Liverpool able to offer Champions League football, Mbeumo could be a suitable Premier League-proven replacement on the right flank if Mohamed Salah leaves this summer.

Additionally, Arne Slot might consider sending a player in the opposite direction to facilitate the deal, as Newsnow Liverpool takes a look at some of likely candidates.

Fabio Carvalho

Liverpool’s youngster Fabio Carvalho impressed on loan at Hull last season, scoring nine goals in 20 Championship matches during the second half of the campaign. His performance has attracted interest from Premier League clubs.

It’s still unclear if the 21-year-old Portuguese player will be part of Arne Slot’s plans for the next season. With Slot having a wealth of attacking talent to choose from, he might consider letting Carvalho go and potentially offering him to Brentford in exchange for a highly-rated forward to mitigate the loss of Mbeumo.

Kostas Tsimikas

Kostas Tsimikas fell down the left-back pecking order at Anfield after Joe Gomez emerged in an inverted role. This shift opened the possibility for Liverpool to sell Tsimikas this summer, allowing the Greek defender to seek first-team football elsewhere.

With Rico Henry’s injury last year, Brentford brought in Tottenham’s Sergio Reguilon on loan. However, with Reguilon unlikely to return, Tsimikas could provide relief for Henry as he works towards full fitness.

Sepp van den Berg

Sepp van den Berg has expressed his desire to leave Liverpool soon after Slot’s appointment. Brentford could be a suitable destination for the 22-year-old center-back.

With Ben Mee, Ethan Pinnock, and Zanka all over 30, Thomas Frank might be looking to introduce a younger defender. Van den Berg is keen to move on from Liverpool, making him a promising option for Brentford.

“In all honesty, I am no longer being looked after. Now I want to keep playing weekly and develop myself further,” Van den Berg said.

“But I understood very well that I was not going to play ahead of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip or Ibrahima Konate.

“I still felt I could be right behind them, but when I was not given a chance again, I told them to sort it out and that I wanted to leave again. Liverpool did not radiate confidence in me all this time, but they now want to hinder my future.”

Stefan Bajcetic

Stefan Bajcetic played only 98 minutes across three appearances for Liverpool last season due to injuries.

Since then, Liverpool have signed Alexis Mac Allister and Wataru Endo for the deeper midfield role that Bajcetic occupied when he first joined the team. This could lead to a loan move to help the 19-year-old regain his rhythm.

Bajcetic is expected to be fit for the start of the new campaign. If a deal is made, he could bring new energy and added physicality to the Brentford midfield, potentially moving in the opposite direction of Mbeumo.
