Mo Salah Missing as Fresh Report Lists Five of World’s Most Valuable Liverpool Players Worth Huge $616M in Transfer Market

Liverpool have five players featured in the list of the 100 most valuable players, with their combined worth totaling $616.55 million as the summer transfer window approaches.

Liverpool boast five star players among the 100 most valuable in the world as the summer transfer market approaches.

A recent report by the CIES Football Observatory has listed the 100 most valuable football players globally at present. This ranking is based on a statistical model incorporating 5,500 paid transfers and considers various factors influencing transfer fees.

These include player’s age, contract length, playing minutes, match levels, results, the economic strength of the player’s club and league, inflation, and potential buyers, among other criteria, to estimate market value.

Interestingly, the list includes five Liverpool players, though not necessarily the ones commonly expected. Despite their high status in world football, Mohamed Salah, Alisson Becker, Virgil van Dijk, and Trent Alexander-Arnold are absent from the list. Their omission is attributed to factors like age and contract details, which impact their transfer values.

At the top of the list is Jude Bellingham, following an outstanding debut season at Real Madrid. He is accompanied in the top five by his teammates Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Additionally, Manchester City’s Erling Haaland and Phil Foden secure the second and fifth positions on the list, respectively.

Dominik Szoboszlai is Liverpool’s most valuable player on the list, with a valuation of $116.76M (£91.86m/€108m), placing him 22nd overall. Close behind is Darwin Núñez, valued at $116.66M (£91.77m/€107.9m).

Cody Gakpo ranks 36th, worth $107.03M (£84.2m/€99m), followed by Alexis Mac Allister at 38th with a valuation of $106.05M (£83.44m/€98.1m).

Further down, in 64th and 65th places, are Harvey Elliott and Luis Díaz. Elliott, after an impressive season, is valued at $85.51M (£67.28m/€79.1m), while Díaz, potentially eyeing a summer move, is valued at $84.54M (£66.51m/€78.2m).

Combined, these five Liverpool players—Szoboszlai, Núñez, Gakpo, Mac Allister, and Elliott—are worth $616.55M (£485.14m/€570.37m). This reflects Liverpool’s recent strategic and effective spending, with all but Elliott signed within the past two and a half years, and Elliott himself brought in as a 16-year-old in 2019.

They cost a total of approximately $328.64 million (£258.57 million/€304 million). Consequently, the latest data indicates that Liverpool has seen their values nearly double collectively.

It’s perhaps surprising to see some Liverpool players on the list, but considering factors such as age and contract situations, it makes sense.

Although Liverpool may not have as many players on the list as other major clubs, it is noteworthy that the valuations of those included have significantly increased since their acquisition.

This highlights some smart business by the Reds, especially in the case of Elliott, who has made remarkable progress since being signed as a raw yet highly talented teenager.

With Díaz and Núñez linked to summer transfers, it also reflects Liverpool’s strong position.

While it’s uncertain they could command the fees suggested by the CIES Football Observatory report, it’s a strong indication that both players would likely fetch substantial sums on the open market if Liverpool were inclined to sell.
