Atalanta president Antonio Percassi has admitted that the club would consider selling Teun Koopmeiners for the right offer during the summer transfer window.
This season, the midfielder was instrumental in leading La Dea to victory in the Europa League. Koopmeiners contributed significantly with 15 goals and seven assists over 49 matches, helping Atalanta also achieve a runner-up finish in the Coppa Italia and secure fifth place in Serie A.
Speculation has arisen that the new Liverpool head coach might seek to bring the 26-year-old to Anfield, rekindling their previous partnership at AZ Alkmaar.
A transfer fee of £60 million has been mentioned, with Chelsea also reportedly showing interest.
Percassi, in conversation with Gazzetta dello Sport (as reported by the Evening Standard), hinted that a potential agreement for Koopmeiners might be on the horizon.
“Only if it was consistent with the strategy required for a provincial club which must always have its accounts in order. He said.
“If you make a deal, it is because you have an equivalent replacement. We are prepared to sell key players for Atalanta, if there is a parachute.”
After securing a triumphant 3-0 win against Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League final, Koopmeiners acknowledged the circulating reports regarding his future and expressed his desire to leave Atalanta.
“I have indicated to Atalanta that I want to make a move next summer. But there must be something very nice to exchange that for Atalanta,” he told De Telegraaf.
“My girlfriend and I are having a great time in Italy, but I can put up with the rain for some clubs in England! I hope there will be great options that I can think about.
“And then I hope that Atalanta receives a nice amount for me, because I had a wonderful time there.
”I would be lying if I said that I did not hear the rumored interest from Juventus and Premier League clubs. Of course I read that too or get it forwarded to me.”
