During their time together at Feyenoord, the Benfica No.10 made 96 appearances under Slot, scoring 21 goals and providing 14 assists.

According to A Bola in Portugal, Benfica will not accept less than €45m (£38m) for Kokcu this summer.

In today’s market, that amount isn’t particularly high, so this news, if accurate, will likely be well-received by Michael Edwards at Anfield.

A Bola also mentioned that Kokcu and Slot have stayed in touch since the Turkish midfielder left Feyenoord for Benfica in June 2023.

Thiago Exit Could Result in Attractive Salary Package for Arne Slot Target

With Thiago Alcantara’s departure from Liverpool, the club now have an extra £200,000-a-week available in their salary budget.

Joel Matip, who is also set to leave Anfield, was earning £100,000-a-week, giving the club significant financial flexibility for Edwards to offer Kokcu a compelling contract.

The 23-year-old Kokcu currently earns around £27,000-a-week at Benfica. Liverpool could easily double or triple his wages, suggesting that personal terms should not be a barrier if an agreement can be reached with the Portuguese club this summer.
