‘He Tried to’: Andy Robertson Shares What Jurgen Klopp Did in the Team Meeting Before His Last Game at Liverpool

Jurgen Klopp will no longer manage Liverpool in any future matches.

After over eight years at the helm, Klopp’s tenure has come to an end. Liverpool bid farewell to their most successful modern-era manager on Sunday.

After the Reds secured a 2-0 win over Wolves, emotions ran high as the manager took the microphone to thank the Anfield crowd.

Jurgen’s final address to his adoring public was predictably brilliant, aligning perfectly with everything he has done before.

Klopp had endured an exhausting few weeks filled with relentless interviews. However, he wanted to keep his focus on the game at hand. Speaking post-game, Andy Robertson shared what Klopp had said before his final match with Liverpool.

Andy Robertson Reveals Jurgen Klopp Meeting

Klopp couldn’t handle this week as if it were any other; it was far from normal, and even he had to admit that.

He mentioned that his final training session at the club on Saturday was deeply emotional. The challenge was always going to be immense.

However, speaking to LFCTV on the pitch after the match, Robertson noted that Klopp tried to maintain a sense of normalcy until the very end.

But for Klopp, once he witnessed the reception awaiting him at Anfield, all efforts to keep things normal appeared to be in vain.

“He tried to make it not about him in the pre-match and things, but as soon as he heard the reception coming in on the bus I don’t think that was possible” said Robertson.

“He tried to make his team meeting as normal as possible but we all wanted to make today about him and everyone wanted to put on a performance for him today.”

What Next for Jurgen Klopp?

This was evident in Klopp’s approach to his post-match duties on Sunday. Although he addressed the crowd with emotion, he maintained his composure.

Now that the season has ended, the German will likely let his guard down in private.

While outsiders might not see this, the first-team squad, coaching staff, and everyone involved behind the scenes will likely experience the best of Jurgen tonight.
