Fabrizio Romano Names the Favourite to Replace Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool Manager

Fabrizio Romano maintains his belief that Sporting Lisbon’s manager, Ruben Amorim, appears the favourite over Brighton’s Roberto de Zerbi in the competition to succeed Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool’s manager.

Speaking exclusively to CaughtOffside for his latest Daily Briefing column, Romano clarified that his intel still points towards Amorim as the likelier candidate to succeed Klopp, despite the Liverpool manager’s evident admiration for De Zerbi following their recent encounter in the Premier League.

In a tightly contested match at Anfield, Liverpool secured a 2-1 victory over Brighton, with De Zerbi’s team displaying their trademark quality, garnering praise from Klopp in the process.

While Klopp’s praise for De Zerbi may raise speculation about the latter’s potential as his successor, Romano maintains his stance that Amorim remains the frontrunner for the Liverpool job. However, the possibility of De Zerbi joining Bayern Munich should not be overlooked.

Discussing the Liverpool manager situation, Romano said: “Despite the links with De Zerbi as Klopp’s successor, I keep repeating my position on that – I’m told that Ruben Amorim is the favourite option for now.

“De Zerbi has been on the list for Liverpool for some time as well, but there’s still no development so far.

“Let’s also see what Bayern will decide to do, but it’s still time for internal talks at Bayern on who will replace Thomas Tuchel, and nothing has been decided yet.”

De Zerbi has undoubtedly proven himself worthy of a top managerial position. It would be intriguing to witness his impact on Liverpool’s team dynamics.

However, considering Bayern’s recent struggles, he also appears to be a compelling candidate to lead them back to their former glory.
