Liverpool are “Concrete Options” to Sign £43m Thierry Henry’s Favourite This Summer

Liverpool’s preparations for the forthcoming summer transfer window are well underway.

Despite uncertainties regarding the team’s managerial situation, Michael Edwards has been appointed to helm all football-related affairs.

Renowned for his adept recruitment strategies, Liverpool supporters anticipate notable signings under Edwards’ guidance, alongside potential collaboration with incoming sporting director, Richard Hughes.

According to Florian Plettenberg, a reporter from Sky Germany, there is substantial speculation that Liverpool are actively considering acquiring Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen, marking them as a ‘concrete option’ to sign the talented forward.

“Been told that Man Utd is not seriously pushing for the 25 y/o winger at this stage!” says Plettenberg. “Arsenal, Liverpool and other clubs from the Premier League are more concrete options for him in the summer!

“Malen still wants to leave BVB in summer. Price valuation from all parties involved: €40-50m [£34-43m] all-in! 13 goals and 5 assists this season in all competitions. Contract valid until 2026.”

Liverpool’s interest in Malen has been longstanding, although his move to Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven didn’t initially live up to expectations.

This season, however, he has begun to fulfill his potential, notably scoring 13 goals for Dortmund, garnering admiration from fans and even receiving praise from Arsenal legend Thierry Henry.

Malen’s improved performance has fueled speculation about his future, with many anticipating a move at the end of the season. As Liverpool face their first transfer window without Klopp in nine years, uncertainties loom over their potential targets, especially in the attacking department.

While Liverpool currently possess five senior attacking options, including Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz, rumours surrounding their futures persist.

If either or both were to depart, Malen could emerge as a viable option for Liverpool to consider. As the season progresses, Malen’s progress remains worth monitoring.
