Champions League Winner “Dreams” of Succeeding Jurgen Klopp as Liverpool Manager

Liverpool are considering Xabi Alonso as their top managerial target for the summer, with other unemployed managers also eyeing a potential opportunity with the Reds.

One such contender is former Germany manager Hansi Flick, who reportedly seeks to succeed Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. While Alonso is currently the frontrunner for the Reds’ managerial position, other coaches without a club are closely monitoring developments at Anfield, hoping for a chance to be considered.

Klopp’s announcement in January about his impending departure from Liverpool at the end of the season has sparked speculation about his successor.

Citing a depletion of energy, Klopp made the decision to step down, feeling it was his responsibility to do so, given his standing at the club as the former Borussia Dortmund boss.

Several managers have been linked with the summertime vacancy as a result. The Anfield outfit are actively scouring the market for suitable candidates. Sporting’s Ruben Amorim and Brighton boss Roberto De Zerbi have both emerged as potential candidates for the position. Additionally, Julian Nagelsmann is being considered.

Despite the speculation, Bayer Leverkusen boss Alonso remains Liverpool’s top target. He has impressed, guiding the club to 21 games without a loss in the Bundesliga. Alonso has refrained from commenting on the situation, but many believe he may accept the role.

In the event that Alonso decides against joining Liverpool, Flick is reportedly interested in the position. According to the Daily Mirror, the 58-year-old “dreams” of managing a Premier League outfit and hopes to be approached for the Merseyside role.

Flick had engaged in talks with Tottenham in 2021, but they were ultimately unproductive. However, this experience has only fueled the former Bayern Munich boss’ desire to manage in England further.

A potential return to the Allianz Arena should not be discounted by Hansi Flick. The German coach is facing mounting pressure as the manager of his current team, with reports indicating a strained relationship with the players due to a disappointing string of results.
