Key Liverpool Players Set to Miss Carabao Cup Final vs Chelsea After Fresh Injury Blows

Liverpool suffered two injury setbacks before the Carabao Cup final next Sunday. Both Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota had to exit the pitch during the first half of their Premier League match against Brentford on Saturday afternoon.

Jones was forced to limp off the field at the Gtech Community Stadium following what seemed to be an ankle injury.

The substitution occurred in the 33rd minute of the match, with Ryan Gravenberch taking the midfielder’s place following an awkward fall following a seemingly harmless challenge that didn’t warrant a foul.

On the other hand, Jota’s injury just before halftime appeared to be more severe. The Portuguese striker had to be carried off on a stretcher after Christian Norgaard landed on his right knee during a collision involving Alexis Mac Allister as well.

Consequently, Mohamed Salah was forced to make a premature return to the team due to his own injury.

A Growing Injury List

Jones and Jota’s withdrawal will be a cause for great concern for Liverpool as they continue their pursuit of silverware on four fronts.

With Dominik Szoboszlai, Thiago Alcantara, and Trent Alexander-Arnold out with injuries, the options available to Jurgen Klopp in the engine room in particular are starting to run thin.

Following the game in West London, both Jones and Jota will undergo tests to determine the severity of their injuries before any timeframe can be placed on their recovery.

In any case, it now seems that neither will be available for the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea next Sunday.
