Jamie Carragher Makes Premeir League Title Prediction and Gives Blunt Reason Why Liverpool Lost to Arsenal

Jamie Carragher has elaborated on his perspective regarding the outcome of the Premier League clash between Liverpool and Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

According to Carragher, Arsenal’s defensive dominance was the primary factor contributing to Liverpool’s defeat during Sunday’s match.

During the weekend fixture, Liverpool suffered a 3-1 loss against Arsenal, resulting in a reduction of their lead at the top of the Premier League table to just two points. The only goal for Liverpool came from an own goal by Gabriel, while Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, and Leandro Trossard secured goals for the home team.

Liverpool’s offensive struggles were evident as they managed only one shot on target throughout the game, courtesy of Luis Diaz in the 46th minute, which Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya comfortably handled.

Carragher maintains Manchester City’s position as favourites for the league title but admitted Arsenal’s potential with a “slim chance” following their victory over Liverpool.

Carragher emphasised Arsenal’s effectiveness in denying Liverpool clear goal-scoring opportunities as the primary reason for Jurgen Klopp’s team’s defeat. However, he also recognised Liverpool’s prowess in other aspects of the game, acknowledging them as one of the top teams in the league.

“They [Arsenal] were better than Liverpool in all areas, but the thing that stood out to me was how strong they were defensively,” said Carragher on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football. “I never felt at any point in that game that Liverpool looked threatening and a goal was coming.

“I said after the game that I actually thought the result was a better result for Manchester City than it was for Arsenal. But, Arsenal do have a slim chance of winning a title, and that chance comes off the back of how good they are defensively.

“I think defensively, certainly in terms of goals conceded as well as the underlying numbers, I think defensively they [Arsenal] are the best team in the Premier League.

“We saw that with what Liverpool did yesterday with their actual xG and you go back to Manchester City going to the Emirates as well that they won 1-0.

“The two best attacking teams in the league, Manchester City and Liverpool, went to Arsenal and never looked like scoring – that is what gives them [Arsenal] a chance.”
