Jurgen Klopp Provides Liverpool Injury Update as Key Player Expected to Be Back for Premier League Clash vs Chelsea

Alexis Mac Allister was noticeably absent from Liverpool’s triumphant 5-2 victory over Norwich City in the FA Cup on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp, in his first match since revealing his imminent exit as manager at the end of the season, clarified the reason behind Alexis Mac Allister’s omission from the squad during the FA Cup win against Norwich City.

The highly anticipated game at Anfield saw the Reds secure a convincing 5-2 win, with goals coming from Curtis Jones, Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Virgil van Dijk, and Ryan Gravenberch against the Championship side.

Liverpool demonstrated dominance throughout the match. Looking ahead, they are set to face either Watford or Southampton in the fifth round of the competition.

Mac Allister was absent from the match-day squad due to a minor issue and was not included to avoid any risks.

Liverpool will shift their focus back to their Premier League title pursuit as they prepare to host Chelsea on Wednesday evening. Klopp expects Mac Allister’s return for the upcoming encounter with the Blues.

The Reds manager said: “I would say [if it was] the last day of the season, a decider or whatever, he could have played but all other games not.

“He felt a little bit and we just said: ‘Nah, nah I don’t want to know more, that’s it’ and we gave him a rest. I think he should be ready for Wednesday.”
