Man City Boss Pep Guardiola Makes Stunning Liverpool Title Race Claim Ahead of PL Clash in March

Manchester City finds themselves trailing Liverpool by a mere two points in the current Premier League standings.

Emphasizing the significance of a late and thrilling triumph, Pep Guardiola highlights the necessity for Manchester City to secure a vital win, keeping them in close pursuit of Liverpool in the Premier League title race.

During the winter break, the Reds’ lead at the top of the table diminished to just two points, as they were inactive in league matches.

Manchester City, on the other hand, managed a hard-fought 3-2 victory against Newcastle United, overcoming a deficit and sealing the win with a stoppage-time goal from Oscar Bobb.

A notable figure in this comeback was Kevin De Bruyne, who, despite being sidelined for four months due to a hamstring injury, played a pivotal role by both scoring and assisting in Bobb’s decisive goal.

Nevertheless, Liverpool maintain control of the race for the title, seeking to reclaim the silverware from City, reminiscent of their triumph in the 2019-20 season.

The upcoming clash at Anfield in March adds further anticipation, with Guardiola already contemplating the challenge posed by the Reds, describing them as ‘flying.’

The City boss said: “Kevin is a legend. He is loved by our people and, hopefully, in the last months he can help us be there to the end. We need players like Kevin. We need him to do something special in the final third. That is not tactical ability but talent, individual talent

“I think everybody agrees we made a really good performance today against such a physical team in Newcastle.

“They made good transitions and, after taking the lead [through Bernardo Silva], we conceded two goals but after that talent made the difference. At half‑time I told the players: ‘You are amazing, stick together and we will do it’.

“It was really important to win because Liverpool are flying and we have to go to Anfield so it’s better to be close the them.”
