Journalist Claims 28-year-old Could “Potentially” Join Liverpool Than Premier League Rivals

A journalist suggested that Joshua Kimmich might be potentially more likely to join Liverpool over Chelsea, should he decide to depart from Bayern Munich.

Ben Jacobs, speaking on The Done Deal Show for The Football Terrace, mentioned the 28-year-old midfielder. Jacobs clarified that there are no advanced talks from Anfield regarding Kimmich.

However, Liverpool seem to have a more favourable position compared to Chelsea in potentially acquiring the player.

The journalist stated: “I’m not aware of Kimmich and Chelsea even though I’ve seen some of the links out there. From the perspective of Chelsea the profile of the player is not what they’re looking for at the moment.

“He’s 28, I know that he’s relatively versatile, but I was always told that the clubs that were looking for Kimmich were more potentially Liverpool, though nothing advanced, and even Manchester United as well.

“We wait and see whether Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS influence that in any way, but I haven’t heard of anything that is advancing with Kimmich and Chelsea.”

Kimmich has recently been linked with Liverpool in transfer rumours. The midfielder’s versatility to play on the right or in the centre of defence, as noted by Transfermarkt, could provide Jurgen Klopp with additional options in those areas when necessary.

It remains uncertain if Liverpool will make a move for the Bayern Munich player this month. However, based on Jacobs’ recent update, Liverpool seems to be ahead of Chelsea in potential negotiations should Kimmich decide to depart from Allianz Arena.

Liverpool possible interest in the Germany international is bolstered by his extensive experience.

Kimmich has participated in over 500 senior matches at both club and international levels (Transfermarkt), a testament to his skills and potential contribution during a crucial phase in the Premier League title race.
