Jurgen Klopp Drops Injury Updates on Liverpool Duo

Latest Liverpool news as Jurgen Klopp provides Kostas Tsimikas and Luis Diaz injury updates after Premier League draw vs Arsenal.

Kostas Tsimikas and Luis Diaz Injury Updates

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Kostas Tsimikas sustained a broken collarbone due to an unintended impact with his manager on the sidelines in the 1-1 match against Arsenal on Saturday.

Tsimikas, who was filling in for the sidelined Andy Robertson, had to leave the pitch in the 35th minute after a challenge from Bukayo Saka sent him to the ground near the touchline. As he fell, he accidentally collided with Klopp.

After the match, Klopp addressed the media and provided details on the injury sustained by the Greek player: “He [Tsimikas] broke his collarbone at least. That’s really bad for us.”

Joe Gomez had to step in as a left-back for the rest of the 1-1 draw against Arsenal at Anfield. This shift might be prolonged due to the injuries sustained by Tsimikas and Robertson. Robertson has been sidelined since mid-October due to a shoulder injury he got while playing for Scotland.

In addition to Tsimikas’s injury, Luis Diaz, a wide forward, also appeared to sustain an injury in the second half of Saturday’s match.

When questioned about Diaz’s injury, Klopp responded: “He has pain, it was knee on knee and in that moment we wanted to change twice and then Lucho was down.

“And actually we first wanted to wait if maybe Lucho has to come off but then we decided [to] change all three because now we don’t have to wait how Lucho is and that’s what we did then.

“Lucho told me ‘little pain’, physios were not too concerned, but you never know and we play in three days and you never know how quick the turnaround is, so we have to see. I don’t know.”
