Jude Bellingham reached out to Dominik Szoboszlai after watching the Liverpool player’s spectacular goal against Leicester.
In a Carabao Cup third-round clash, Liverpool found themselves trailing Championship side Leicester 1-0. Kasey McAteer had swiftly given the Foxes the lead within three minutes. However, Liverpool made a comeback, with Cody Gakpo skillfully finishing to level the score just after halftime.
Then, as a second-half substitute, Szoboszlai made an immediate impact, smashing an unstoppable long-range shot off the crossbar to put Liverpool in the lead.
While Diogo Jota’s casual flick later sealed the victory, it was Szoboszlai’s goal that stole the spotlight. The Liverpool fans have warmly embraced the Hungarian since his summer transfer from RB Leipzig, and Real Madrid’s Jude Bellingham seems to be one of the 22-year-old’s growing admirers.
Following Szoboszlai’s Instagram post celebrating his goal with a collection of pictures, Bellingham, who was previously a Liverpool target before joining Los Blancos, left a comment saying, “Szobooo,” accompanied by the rocket emoji.
In fact, after the game, Szoboszlai himself told Liverpool’s club media that his strike against Leicester was among the best he had ever scored.
He said: “It was very special. I don’t know if it was the best goal, I scored one of my best in the national team and also in Salzburg.
“But one of the best for sure.”
Furthermore, during his post-match press conference, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp addressed the Hungary international.
The German said: “Since the first minute of training he has been impressive. He is a top bloke, a really top guy.
“I don’t have to tell him to shoot, he knows better than I – he’s really good. That is a really good skill. [It was a] super goal.”
