Speculation surrounding Erling Haaland and a potential move to Real Madrid has resurfaced once again, but the Spanish giants’ current stance on the matter is now clearer. While the Norwegian striker has long been admired at the Santiago Bernabéu and is widely viewed as a perfect fit for the club’s Galáctico tradition, there are no immediate plans for Real Madrid to launch a sensational bid for the Manchester City forward. This reluctance is largely due to the impressive impact Kylian Mbappé has made since arriving in Spain.
Haaland’s move to Manchester City in 2022
Real Madrid were among the clubs monitoring Haaland closely when Borussia Dortmund prepared for his departure in 2022. At the time, the striker was regarded as one of the most devastating young forwards in world football, with Europe’s biggest sides lining up for his signature. Ultimately, Haaland chose Manchester City, following in the footsteps of his father, Alf-Inge Haaland, by moving to the Etihad Stadium.
The decision paid immediate dividends.
